Tara’s Palace and Museum of Childhood adjoins the Fry Model railway and Malahide Castle all three of which provide great visit opportunities. A series of good value combined entry ticket options are available at reception covering any combination of these attractions.
Tours
The tour visit of Tara’s Palace and Museum of Childhood usually takes 40 - 50 minutes. This provides sufficient time to see the Palace, historic dolls houses and displays. Up to 50 visitors can be comfortably accommodated at the same time.
Special receptions arranged in advance may be held in the Museum building. A range of catering and beverage options are available. There is a restaurant and coffee shop in the Castle close by.
The museum building is friendly to disabled visitors and the surrounding area is paved and level. A lift is available to the first floor and there is a specially equipped toilet.
Tara’s Palace shares a common reception area with the Fry Model Railway one of the world’s greatest 00 gage model railways. It contains a model of every train that ever ran on the railways of Ireland and is kept fully up to date. A joint ticket to visit both attractions is available at reception.
Tara’s Palace and Museum of Childhood is located in the restored corn store building in the courtyard adjoining Malahide Castle close to the coastal town of Malahide. It is about 10 miles (18 Kilometres) from Dublin City centre. It is very easy to get to.
The public bus (Bus No. ) from Dublin city centre ( ) to Malahide passes by the Malahide Castle Demense. There is a short walk from the bus stop through the castle gardens.
The dart rail service links Dublin, Blackrock, Dunlaoghaire, Dalkey, Killiney and Bray to Malahide Station – The Castle entrance is close to the station and a 10 minute walk through the grounds to the Castle and Courtyard.

Taxis are readily available in all areas of the city and can deliver visitors right to the door.
